Best way to waste your money: CL65 AMG

I think since 2003, there is something called Mercedes 65 AMG! The catastrophe of automotive engineering, and expression of Mercedes’s dullness on perfection. CL65 was available in previous model and also in current model (unfortunately). This weird car has 12 cylinders and produced 612 horse powers! Anything figure about this car is ultimately ridiculous. There is no need mention them here. However there is one thing should be mentioned, its price!

One day if you lose your mind, and decide to spend £ 160 000 on a car which has more option than anything on earth, Mercedes CL65 AMG is your car. You pay this amount of money and you get the plain car and you have to add at least %20 extra to have everything. I know in Ferrari, they also ask for money for yellow brake callipers but that’s a Ferrari! I can understand.

On the other hand, for £ 160 000 you can easily buy an Aston Martin DB9 Coupe which offers everything as standard. Many of Mercedes fanatics will say, but Aston Martin does not have crash collision system! Because, in an Aston Martin you don’t fall asleep and crash the car in front of you. You feel the passion, even if you slept for four hours last night, when you see a DB9 and when you hear it; you would definitely wake up! I am not sure for CL65 AMG offers the same effects. Also Mercedes CL65 AMG is not a stylish car!!!!

Anyway, if you have lots of money and willing to buy something which can show your lack of automotive knowledge; just buy a Mercedes with 65 AMG written on the back :) If you dying to buy a CL, just buy CL 63 AMG. Because, it is more usable! It offers less power but you can control it ;)

New BMW 6 Series have some interesting photos!

New BMW 6 Series is one of the best looking GT cars with reasonable price! When we consider the other GT cars like; Aston Martin, Ferrari, Maserati and others. 6 Series is really cheap and look really nice. Even though it was lots of engine option and it is a sibling called 1 Series, I really loved the new 6 Series.

However I was shocked with the press release photo! The ones which you can see below do not look realistic. Actually, they look photoshop! As far as I know automotive firms usually don’t prefer to use photoshop but I cannot understand how these things happened. May be I am wrong but, they still look a bit weird!

The problem is, there are no proper shadows :O

Audi: Vorsprung Durch Matryoshka

When I see a new Audi, I always remember the Russian doll matryoshka. These are placed one inside each other. Like new Audi range. When you buy an A8, you end up to A1 very easy! Thanks to their new design identity, each new Audi looks more similar to each other and becomes terribly hard to identify!

Recently I saw the new A1 and I could not understand whether it was A3 or not. I know, A1 is smaller and has a different design. But it is quite hard to understand the difference with bare eyes. You have to use electron microscope to identify it. Matryoshka syndrome has been seen in other German brands too, Mercedes and BMW were the kind of these. During ‘90s, Mercedes C Class, E Class and S Class were typically the same with each other. It was quite hard to understand the difference from far. But BMW made it worse and 3, 5 and 7 were nearly the same and you have to place your nose in front the bonnet to see the difference.

However, both BMW and Mercedes cured from this syndrome and now we can identify their models very clearly. In following decade, we will see this in new Audis also. Even though Audi has a significant place between BMW and Mercedes, there is still a long way to travel.

Car of the Day #1 Rolls Royce Ghost

Then I thought, I have lots of car pictures which were taken by me and why I should not upload them as “car of the day”. On each Wednesday, I will be posting a car from my own library.

Saab, Volvo, Nokia and IKEA: Management Issues

For many years, we adore the Scandinavian brands. They always had something different than the others! Volvo was the safest car, Saab's technology was transferred from aerospace, and Nokia was the stylish. As you might noticed, I used past tense! Because, they all left in the past. Now Volvo is not the safest car manufacturer, fortunately every brand is safe. Saab has nothing to offer, except being Saab. Nokia is having last good days in mobile phones business and being beaten up by just one product.

Now what is next? Ikea! Just remember the last decades and how all those Scandinavian brands were glamour. But now, they lost all their fame. Okay, Volvo is getting better but there is a huge gap between the other brands and Volvo.

From all these brands, I noticed one thing in common. Scandinavian firms are really innovative and good at design, but ignore the whole world! Your brands may be the best, but we are not living in your region. So, we do not think like you. And Scandinavian firms are not that good at predicting the future and upcoming trends. I think in one decade Ikea can face the similar problems like Nokia and others. I hope they will realize what is going wrong and before things go wrong.

Mercedes G Class vs. Ferrari FF (Follow Ferrari)

Since I started blogging, Mercedes always provided me something to write. Thanks to their marketing and engineers, I always found something and honestly I am sure some of them are not adored by Mercedes too!

Recently Ferrari decided to introduce interesting materials by starting a car called as FF, in terms of Twitter world this mean “Follow Friday” or we amend to “Follow Ferrari”. Since the live press conference which was heavily involved with a word called “innovative”, offered excellent materials for me.

And Ferrari did not stop this! They introduce a very unusual footage of FF. And this footage is very similar to Mercedes’s the one and only coolest vehicle G Class’s advertisement. In both videos scenery starts with snow and both of the vehicles are doing artistic moves on snow. For G Class, that’s something really normal. Because, that’s designed for that! However jumping and sliding on snow with a Ferrari is really “innovative”. I salute the Ferrari marketing team.

I hope that they won’t reveal a bullet proof FF, as a result of innovative technology!

Fast and I really get bored of Furious !!!

Today I was planning to write about something else, however I watched something really catastrophic on internet. And it is called Fast and Furious 5! Nearly every two years, there are revealing worse Fast and Furious. I watched only two of them and the rest I could not bear to watch.

All the time scenario is the same, big guys are doing something and they are running away and cars crashes, people jumps, big cars crashes again, guys with lots of tatoo running all the time. And each movie they develop their own dictionary of useless words!

I really wonder who is writing all these things and how she or he can convince own self to like this thing. There is only one explanation and we all know, money! But this motivation will never ever make this movie to be remembered in future. When they get bored of writing this movie, everyone will forget them. It will not be like Italian Job!

International Women Day

Sorry for late International Women Day’s post. Most of the people have bias toward women drivers. Instead of numbers just watch these two videos from Sabine Schmidt and Vicki Butler Henderson, then think again :)

Sabine is a race driver and drives the legendary BMW M5 Ring Taxi! And she lapped thousands of times around the Nürburgring. Couple of years or may be more, Top Gear gave her a Ford Transit to lap around the Nürburgring less than ten minutes. And she achieved by eight seconds extra! Transit never been designed to race and overtake Porsches.

I guess everyone knows Vicki, she was presenting old Top Gear and now on Fifth Gear. She is also race driver. And she drives a Toyota iQ in city and in a circuit. Like Transit, iQ was never meant to be driving like this and my recommendation is not to try by yourself.
