Smartwatch | Nissan Nismo vs. Pebble, Apple iWatch, Sony, Samsung

Nissan Nismo smart watch is something really extraordinary for automotive industry. Due to heritage of the automotive business, they love to introduce digital technology after half a decade later. We still don’t have HD cameras on cars! Or the board computer interface is like first generation of IOS. Automotive companies are very good making thing from metal and create combustion inside chambers. However, smartwatch business is something extraordinary and slippery. 

Smartwatch business became popular with Pebble watch on Kickstarter website and managed to generate $10-million in less than a month. However, Pebble is pretty slow at manufacturing. After the Pebble, Sony introduced a smart watch, Samsung introduced a smart watch literally with no battery life and we were expecting to see iWatch but not yet. 

So the smartwatch business will be the hot topic of future and will be ignored by automotive companies because what is the point. Actually, there is a very solid point. Cars are gadgets, people are not looking forward to smell burning clutch or use manual gearbox in a start-stop traffic for three hours. People want to have the same comfort and innovation on cars similar to their iPhone. 

And Nissan got the point! They created a concept smartwatch called Nismo. It is a great gadget. It collects the data from your car and packs them in a very beautiful way. And there are lots of opportunities for smart watches to engage with cars. Such as; service interval, fuel level, where you parked and more. However, will you buy a Nissan watch? No! Will you buy a Ferrari smartwatch? May be. Will you buy a Porsche Design smartwatch? More than may be. Will you buy an iWatch from Apple? Definitely yes!

So there are two ways for car companies. They either make their own smart watch and create a dedicated team to develop that gadget to keep with Apple and Samsung, or offer apps for smart watches! My personal opinion, wearable car brand has a very limited scope and cannot compete with Apple or Samsung. I really will not fancy to wear a Range Rover watch. Range Rover is a watch brand or technology brand. It is a luxury off road vehicle brand. However, I wouldn’t say no to Range Rover app on my iWatch or Pebble. However, if Porsche Design makes a smart watch, there might be some potential. Because, Porsche Design makes watches already.

Literally, car companies should focus on smartwatch apps. I know many people will say, this article is senseless, waste of time to read, smart watch app never offers the same feeling like driving a Honda S2000 and this goes forever. However, world has changed! Yes, there are still people, who love to burn clutch whilst making a donut with a Honda S2000 but it is minority. Otherwise, how Pebble can make $10-million? And I am sure that some of the investors of Pebble have a car!

However, I really appreciated the innovative product of Nissan, well done :)

Porsche Design Fall / Winter 2013 Women Collection

I have just seen the Porsche Design women fall / winter 2013 collection. I am not a fashion critic but I always find Porsche Design as a very muscular brand for a women collection. The colours, the lines and the image do not match properly with the idea of women collection. However, they didn’t give up. For last one year, Porsche Design’s efforts to enter women fashion business is as ambitious as Porsche Cayenne’s first attempt to find a place on market. 

And Porsche Design is finding the grip for the women fashion business. It is really hard for them to compete with the iconic brands but Porsche Design is a contemporary fashion brand and it will be unfair to compare it with brands like Valentino. And also, whatever Porsche Design does, they cannot get rid of the mechanical feeling. Porsche Design is related with Porsche and Porsche manufactures cars and their cars are not emotional like Ferraris.

Therefore, Porsche Design should focus on more emotional figures for their brand. In order to find a place and increase traction to go further, Porsche Design have to have emotional figures. Otherwise, the expected success never be able to achieved. 

And start with the colours! Please, get rid of the black, grey, dark grey, light grey, or anything that has black inside. You are not selling a car, I know there should be somehow Porsche DNA but create that DNA through production quality not the colours inspired by Porsche cars.

Maria Sharapova is the brand ambassador of the Porsche. 26-year old legendary tennis player signed a three-year contract with Porsche as their brand ambassador. With this strategy Porsche increased it presence on the tennis world and definitely we will the influence of Sharapova in Porsche Design Tennis Collection as well.

New Women Collection From Porsche Design

Porsche Design and women, Porsche Design offers women collection. The two contradiction notions in the same sentence. Porsche Design is a part of brand extension of Porsche. Porsche Design offers various products with the Porsche design philosophy and on each product you can feel the Porsche character on details. From design perspective, Porsche Design is one of the best design studios. Their product have so attraction, you don’t even bother to think about their functionality, all mind is captured by the having one.

This happened to me many times with Porsche Design products, but I don’t want to talk about. I want to talk about the women collection; Porsche Design is created over a car brand, Porsche. And you would expect Porsche Design to be muscular and straightforward to male customers. Yes, it does. But Porsche Design is trying to capture women customers as well. They started to offer women collection and very slowly, they are extending their range. 

Now, you can buy women trousers, blazer jackets, slim fit shirts, and hang bags. Despite this extension and afford to capture more women customers still did not break the cold men oriented identity of Porsche Design. I just checked the Porsche Design women collection and I can say one thing, it looks too muscular for women. 

And I decided to ask some of female friends to learn about their perception to Porsche Design collection, and the result as you expected. They are nice… But Porsche is a car brand, when they started to sell clothes! I think I may not buy them…  The Porsche Design handbags as expensive Louis Vuitton, I would buy a LV instead of Porsche Design.

These are the words from women, and I am not surprised. Porsche Design created fantastic women collection under a very male orientated brand and priced to compete with Louis Vuitton products. I think, the pricing of Porsche Design women handbags are a bit too high for their segment. When you compete with Louis Vuitton, your chance to be preferred is really low. This is like Louis Vuitton is making a rear engine, rear-wheel driven sports car to compete with Porsche 911. The result will be failure. Porsche Design will not fail but, it won’t achieve an epic success on their women collection.

Porsche Design Women Jewellery: Christmas Gift Idea

Porsche Design women jewellery may not sound that charming. Jewellery from a car company; actually Porsche Design does not make cars but it is under the Porsche brand. And many people still associated this brand with cars, like me!

Let’s go back to topic, Porsche Design and women do not seem to be familiar with each other. The main reason is, Porsche Design is a muscular brand and many women may not find it charming!

P3480 Necklace: Porsche Design logo inspired 925 silver necklace. It looks a bit ordinary but the detailed craftsmanship can be noticed very easily. However, some people may find a bit boring. Don't forget, it is unique!

P3470 Earrings: Earrings are made from 925 silver and it is partially matte and glossy. I think, they are better than the necklace and definitely something really different.

P3450 Bracelet: Similar to previous ones, bracelet is made from 925 silver and it is partially matte and glossy. In my opinion, this is the best item in the Porsche Design women jewellery. Porsche Design bracelet is simple and elegant. The previous items are also the same but the size of the bracelet emphasises these more.
