Brushed Metal Exterior
In case you are planning to buy a new house with contemporary design, you might have seen some interesting interior designs. In my opinion, some of them are really creative and altered the traditional interpretation. Some of these new design concept change something really fundamental!
We used to have houses with walls covered with colour, this is what we all expected from a house. It was not usual to see a house interior with no colour, I mean no body was willing to have a house with a plain concrete walls. Nowadays, this idea starts vanish and people pay lots of money to have houses with a no proper colour on their wall. Actually they buy houses with plain concrete walls!
Honestly, I first saw this design concept in TV series 24 and I liked it. It took time to get used to it but it looks nice.
As the traditional walls are replaced with concrete walls, why don't we have plain metal cars! I would like to have a car with brushed metal, I do not mean this as a colour. I don't wish to have a colour coating, I wish plain metal, sure with protection coating and etc. But I don't want any colours. People might think this will look weird and odd but it may look nice though. I think many people can remember that, DeLorean DMC was like this and it wasn't looking that bad! I am pretty sure that car designer may introduce this option in few year’s time.
It is already available with Macbook Air and Macbook Pro. They both look exquisite.

Yin & Yang: Mercedes SLS AMG Cabrio
In Chinese philosophy, Yin and Yang represent the interconnection of contrary forces. It may sounds a bit difficult, let me explain it with examples. In nature everything has yin and yang aspects; male and female, cold and hot, slow and fast, war and piece, good and bad, coupe and cabrio. This list can go forever with infinite different contrary forces.
Everything happens in the world has a good and bad sides, it is impossible to avoid this. If you wish to drive a super car, you need to pay lots of money. You cannot buy a brand new super car with cheap price tag. Because it is impossible in terms of manufacturing and finance! This is supported by yin and yang. Good and bad complete each other! Super car is the good side and expensive price tag is the bad side.
As you might noticed from the my previous posts, Mercedes SLS AMG is the my least favourite car. I would never ever buy one, except a bargain for a second hand. Honestly, I would still go for a second hand SLR instead of brand new SLS AMG. Because, SLS AMG is not able to reflect anything new like its predecessor 300SL! 300SL featured state of art three litre direct injection engine, but current retro interpretation just offers a 6,3 litre AMG engine with some modifications. This engine can be found in AMG tagged car, nothing really specially. And the design is not my favourite. But this is subjective, someone else can love it. Similar to my sympathy to SLS AMG Cabrio.
This new cabrio is something totally different than the dull looking SLS AMG! With this cabrio, they complete each other like yin and yang. The good is cabrio and the bad is coupe. I was not expecting this kind of state of art retro interpretation of 300SL. Red coloured canvas cabrio SLS AMG is the best-looking cabrio on market! And they did a great job to avoid the metal roof, which kills the all the harmony of open air sensation.
If you are planning to buy a SLS, just wait for the cabrio!

One Front: Aston Martin
After the Aston Martin revealed the Virage as the new vehicle to fill the market gap between DB9 and DBS. Similarity of Aston Martin became more obvious. All Aston Martin models expect Cygnet, look the same from the front. BMW had this design concept a decade ago but it did not work well, Audi is doing the same right now and everyone is criticising them. Interestingly it is not that annoying like mass production brands, all Aston Martins look the same from the front but it never kills the attractiveness.

Future of Transportation! Be Careful
Last one decade we see very interesting concept vehicles as the future of transportation. Segway Ginger was revealed as something state of art and it should have changed the way we mobilise, but it didn't! Later on, BMW revealed a motorcycle with a decent roof. This was also failed. The failure of future transportation never demotivated people to invent new things.
Last night I watched the Gadget Show on Channel5, which is presented by Jon Bentley. I mention his name because, readers outside of UK can easily remember him from Fifth Gear and Top Gear. There are four more people on the show :) They don't involve with car that much but they show something technologies for future transportation. And in last episode, Pollyanna Woodward drove or wore or rode something which allows to mobilise human beings. Technically you cannot get into this motorcycle looking vehicle. And it does not have a steering wheel. In addition, it does not have ABS, traction control, electronic stability control, hill hold function, radar guided cruise control, pre crash sensors, parking sensors, rear view camera. Actually you have to do all these things by yourself, because you are the vehicle.
This interesting thing works with electric motor and it can either rear wheel or front wheel, depends on your mood! As a result of this, you can have enjoyment of oversteering and feel the excitement in your internal organs! And all these happens with a small tire. The reality of the vehicle is, you sit on the tire and your weight determines the level of traction :)
It is the funniest looking vehicle I have ever seen. If you want to ride or drive in sitting position, you have to sit on the tire and create a very unique look and motivate people to look at you. In the meantime, you can oversteer in this position but I would not recommend. The consequences are definitely catastrophic and you will be on the cover of the newspapers. Moreover, you must be extremely careful while trying to move forward on hills. If you cannot manage to go straight, keep in mind you are sitting above the engine and tire. Try not to crash! It would not be very pleasant.
This unfortunate condition may happen again, if someone crashes you from the back. As the vehicle does not have anything to protect you, the result is going to be terrible. Good part, your feet are the steering wheel and you can show your Formula One style driving ability in everywhere.
If you are planning to live your life in danger and find some excitement, this is your vehicle. Or just buy a Fiat 500 cabrio or Smart. They are small, efficient and you don't have any serious risks while driving :) However, it is still state of art design and technology. I am sure that, it will be presented in technology museum in future. Moving the traction wheel from rear to front while driving is something innovative.

Mercedes S Class S600 P Police Car from Mexico
Mercedes s class is always considered as a car to be driven by state members, rich people, lottery winners and anyone who has lots of money to spend on a car. And thanks to Mercedes, you can have many different engines with bullet proof option. The engine range of S class is more complicated than the handbags those are appeared in London Fashion Week!
Besides this engine confusion, there is one thing more! S600 P, this is produced in Mexico (Mercedes produces S classes in Mexico too) and driven by Mexican police. Sounds really interesting and can motivate some people to work in Mexican police department :) This car is equipped with S65's twin turbo engine and bulletproof! Sounds confusing, it is like bullet proof AMG. And interestingly Chinese government interested on this bulletproof AMG and received some :)
I am pretty sure that, there are some people are willing to buy a bulletproof AMG! Like people who are willing to buy handbags which are not designed for usability. Bullet proof AMG, will not be something really fast. It would be something looks sporty and keeps you alive.
This vehicle on the picture is non face-lifted S Class, this means it is manufactured before 2010. I couldn't find face-lifted S Class Guard photos in Mercedes-Benz media library!

Ford Focus Active Grille Shutter, finally spotted !!!
A decade ago, efficiency of cars were not this crucial for companies. It was important to have low levels of consumption but the pressure was not like this from governments and consumers. Thanks to unstable petrol prices, now everyone is concerned on fuel consumption! Therefore, each month we hear something new about efficiency. Actually in each motor show, there is something new. This is similar fashion business, they need to reveal new designs for each new show.
Recently engineers invented something really amazing and interesting, active grille shutter. It does sound weird but it not that complicated. It is just a group of flaps in front the radiator and they control the airflow to cooling system. During winter times, the engine is trying to get warmer and cold air is trying to make it colder. But when the flaps engaged with close position there is no worry for cold winds! Usually there sixteen different positions are defined and computer decided which angle is the best for the engine. This enables to reduce the consumption by rapid increase of engine heat to optimum position. Optimum heat is the key point for consuming less fuel.
BMW, Ford and some other manufacturers offer this technology in their cars. But nobody see them with naked eye! Actually, it is a bit challenging to see them. On weekend, I visited a Ford dealer in Birmingham to see this flaps in real. It took some time to capture the photos, they are behind the bumper and this makes it quite hard to take a proper photo. However I did it. As you can see in below, that plastic flap is one of the key elements of greener cars without painting the car into green colour :)
Next time, I will try to take a video of their movement but it will much harder than taking photo! Of course I am not planning to hang my self-upside down while someone is driving the car. The best option is to capture them while under they are checked by the diagnose computer at workshop. Those computers have more entertainment than your PlayStation.
